The State Fair

As I mentioned in my previous post, the MS State Fair was in town a couple of weeks ago. The only word I would use to describe Maddox would be.... FEARLESS!!!!! He is a very shy and somewhat cautious child so I was anxious to see how he did on the rides. Much to our surprise he wanted to try EVERYTHING! The faster, higher, louder the better. For example, there was a ride that took you to the top of a tower dropped you, pulled you back up, dropped you some more, pulled you back up, etc. etc... Maddox wanted to ride this.... I had to remind myself he is only 2 years old!

getting ready to go

going up, up, up

the first drop.... mouth wide open
the second drop.... laughing so hard!
next stop.... the roller coaster!
riding the helicopter with Rett
sweet daddy riding the bumble bee with maddox

Field Trip to Petting Zoo

Maddox went on his first official field trip! The MS State Fair was in town a couple of weeks ago and his class went to the petting zoo. You could buy bags of carrots to feed the animals. I'm sure they were about to blow up when we left! As you can see from the pictures below.... Maddox had a blast! The highlight of the day..... getting to hold the baby chicken!

such a sweet face!

shockingly, he was very gentle and sweet to the baby chick!

he took his job very serious!!

he would squeal every time one of the animals ate food out of his hand!

so excited!

White Line

Maddox, Stephen, and I were invited by the Grubbs (Clay & Dottie) family to their hunting camp, White Line, for the weekend. The Grubbs have two boys, Clayton (3) and Stewart (just turned 2). So... when you throw Maddox (2y8mo) in the mix it can get very crazy! These boys have such a good time together when they're getting along and sometimes even when they're fighting! It was a great weekend of just "hanging out"! Thanks Grubbs family for the invite!

maddox and clayton digging in the dirt!

"stewart.. what is so funny?"

that's my baby driving a four-wheeler.... scary!!!!

Little Davy Crockett!

so happy!

Our little football player

Maddox is OBSESSED with football. I'm not real happy about it, but Stephen loves it! He has been looking for Maddox a football helmet for months now. He was having a hard time finding one that was Maddox's size. Well.... I went into Stein Mart a couple of weeks ago and what do you know... they had the whole package.... helmet, shoulder pads, pants, and jersey! I called Stephen and asked him if he wanted me to buy it. He answered me like I was crazy for asking! So, now our evenings consist of lots of "down, set, hut"!

THE CIRCUS!!!!

The Circus was in town a couple of weeks ago and we HAD to go, of course!!! Now, last year we went to the circus in Augusta. I'll be honest... it wasn't that great. Ringling Brothers has different color tours and the smallest one is the one was saw last year. Maddox wasn't into it that much and we ended up leaving at intermission. Well.... this year was MUCH different! It was awesome.... elephants, white tigers, wiener dogs, and much more! We went with the Ainsworths; and Lucy and Mary Gaston Blair. Maddox had the best time. Thanks, Carrie, for getting the tickets!

THE TIGERS and their brave tamer that was a woman!!!

After the show we tried to get a picture of all three. Alexa Kate didn't want to take part and notice Mary Gaston's outfit accessorized with sno cone!

Maddox actually shared his sno cone with AK!

The elephants... do you see the woman riding on left one!?!

Maddox and Boots

I had so many great pictures of Maddox and Boots (Elizabeth) that I decided to create a whole post dedicated to them.

This is Elizabeth Buckler (aka.. Boots/Bootsie..... and yes... named after Dora's monkey Boots)

The Buckler Invasion

Well... not exactly, but that's what we called it! As you know, the Buckler clan was our "family" in Augusta. It has been very hard (for the children included) being so far from them. Over Labor Day Weekend, they came to MS to visit us!!!!!! Thank you Britt and Brad for weathering the "storm" of traveling with a 3 year old and 8 month old for 8 hours!!!!! We loved every minute of you being here and can't wait for our trip in December!

Eating donuts and getting a sugar high for the day!

Sneaking a kiss!

Stealing a hug!

Precious friends!

The fight (for old times sake)!

The make-up kiss!

Funny Kid

I went to get Maddox up from his nap the other day and this is how I found him. Yes... he slept with a pair of "big boy" Diego underwear around his neck!

We're Going on a Deer Hunt!

Stephen, Maddox, Mike, & Alexa Kate took off for the "hunting land" on Saturday morning. They were going to ride in the golf cart and "look" for some deer.

dressed for the occasion..... boots and all!

First Day at Trinity Pre-School

Friday, August 23rd was Maddox's first day at Trinity Pre-School! He had a great day and did great when I dropped him off. It's a small world... he ended up getting a friend of mine, Lauren Lester, for his teacher! I'm excited about a great year for him!
This picture looks like a mugshot...... such a boy!

Visitors from Augusta

On Wednesday, Maddox and I drove to Hattiesburg to pick up my dear friend, Elizabeth Gregg, and her two girls. Elizabeth and I became friends while we lived in Augusta. Her husband, Neal (from Hattiesburg), is an orthopedic resident at MCG. They have two little girls: Addie Dayne (20 months) & McKay (10 weeks).... and yes... you read that correctly!!! When Neal finishes residency they are moving back to Hattiesburg! Yeah for 1 1/2 hour drive instead of an 8 hour drive!!!!!!

Maddox and Addie Dayne had so much fun together. I was interested to see if they would remember each other or how they would act since it has been 3 months since they've seen each other. The first time they saw each they went crazy screaming! It was so cute! We can't wait to have them closer to us!

maddox was in love baby McKay!

feeding the deer in our backyard

addie dayne LOVED it!

there once was a day where we could get a picture made of just us.... not so much anymore!
