MCG School of Dentistry Graduation Dinner

On June 4th the MCG School of Dentistry hosted their annual graduation dinner. This night honors all graduates of dental residencies.

Back to Augusta

For the few of you that read this, I know you'll think I'm crazy. I'm putting the dates in a next few posts because this blog serves as our family journal. I want to be able to look back in 10 years and see all that we did in such a short period of time when were "young"..... we will think of ourselves as crazy!

On June 1st we arrived back in Augusta from the beach to a house with only a sofa, mattress & box spring, a TV on a moving box, & Maddox's blow up bed. Thankfully we had our beach chairs so we could concoct some sort of dining furniture!

Yes... those are two moving boxes as our table accompanied by our beach chairs! The best is... we lived like this for two weeks and had company come stay!

Move To Mississippi

After 5 years of being away we have finally made our move back to Mississippi!

Steve and Becky came to Augusta on Monday the 19th to help us get loaded up and make the move. We had 2 LARGE trailers and 1 LARGE truck so we could not have done it without their help. Thank you so much!

We bought a house in Cypress Lake in Madison and LOVE it!!!!! I didn't get any pictures of the unload or the inside of the house with our stuff, but here is a picture of it when we put the contract on it in March. It's the nicest house Stephen and I have ever lived in together! We finally got our "grown-up house"!

We put all of Maddox's yard toys in the back of Steve's truck because it didn't matter if they got wet. All we needed was a rocker and Granny on top and we would have officially been the Clampets!!!!!!

Lots Going On!!!!!

We have been MIA from the blogging world for a month now! YIKES! It is not because there is a lack of things to blog on it's because there has been too much going on to stop and blog! I am going to attempt to blog in chronological order.

On April 21st two very big prayers were answered for us. We got a contract on our house and we found out we were pregnant with Baby #2. We were overjoyed, but I had a feeling like all of this was too good to be true. These were two HUGE things that Lord blessed us with and I just couldn't get over it. Being a Christian, I know that there really is no such thing, but I couldn't help feeling that way. I was having major pregnancy symptoms and already taking Zofran and Nexium. I blew up like a giant balloon in 2 short weeks and already was uncomfortable in my regular clothes. I was only 4 weeks along at this point.

I had already started packing our house a couple of weeks before so I turned it up a notch and really got to packing. We were going to close on May 21st. Let me back track by saying we also found a house in Madison and were closing on it on May 22nd. We were having a great time packing up, spending lots of time with friends, and enjoying life. Mother's Day weekend rolled around and my sweet friend Britt had given me a gift certificate for a half a day at the spa and she would join me. We did that on Saturday. That night Stephen and I were watching TV and I told him that I felt like something wasn't right with this baby. On Mother's Day I told the say thing to Britt. My first ultrasound and doctors appointment was scheduled for Wednesday so thankfully I wasn't having to wait too long.

Wednesday rolls around and it's time for my ultrasound. I should be 6 weeks and 6 days at this point. When the tech does the ultrasound she begins questioning my timing. She says I am measuring 5 weeks with a sack but nothing in it (which is normal at only 5 weeks). I knew right then that I had miscarried because I knew EXACTLY how far along I should have been. I asked her is that what that meant and she said not always. Well... she was just being nice. I then went to see my OB and she confirmed that I had miscarried and we scheduled my D&C for Friday.

We were heartbroken, but it's amazing to me how God works. I never had any doubts while pregnant with Maddox, but I never felt right about this pregnancy. As hard as it was, I was almost prepared for the bad news. What also amazes me is God's timing. There is a season for everything and one of those is mourning. I did my mourning between Wednesday and Friday and by Friday night I had to get back to packing. I had so much to distract me that I really didn't have time to sit around and be sad. Even though this was hard for us, the situation could have been a lot worse and we're thankful for how things did happen. We are now praying that I can have another successful pregnancy and another sweet child like Maddox.

Now with the fun stuff!! While were packing Maddox found Stephen's bike under the house and became obsessed with it. Stephen had to take packing breaks to ride Maddox up and down the street. Please don't call DFACS on us (no helmet and riding on the middle bar)!

GYN Cancer Support Group Wine Tasting

Saturday night our supper club (minus a few) went to the GYN Cancer Support Group Fundraiser. It was a wine tasting and sit down dinner. It was fun for us all to get dressed up and actually go out on the town. Needless to say.... much laughing took place and fun was had by all!

To give you a little background on our supper club: It all began in October of 2004 (we moved to Augusta June 2004). I signed up for a supper club through the MCG Housestaff Auxiliary (a support group for students, residents, and fellows wives). We got randomly placed in a supper cub and we met for the first time in October. It began with 6 couples. Over time people have moved and we've added new people, but there are four couples that are the original group: the Bells, Bucklers, Ansleys, and us. Out of the these four, three of us are moving on to the next phase of our lives in a month. We have had dinner together every month for 3.5 years now. It has become part of our monthly schedule... how different it will be not seeing these people every month. We have made many, many memories together and held each others hands through deaths, births, and our husbands crazy schedules. To say that these people are "friends" is an understatement... they are our "Augusta family".

Caterpillar

Maddox had is first experience with a caterpillar. I kept telling him it was just like The Very Hungry Caterpillar in his book, but he only wanted to watch from a distance (3 inches away)! He wasn't real sure about it's fuzzy body.

Maybe I'll pick it up..... Maybe not!!!!

First Bubble Bath

As I have said before... I have forfeited my Mother Of The Year Award from Maddox so many times in just 2 short years that I decided I would have to try again with the subsequent Greer children. With all of that being said... Maddox took his FIRST (so sad) bubble bath! He wasn't real sure about it at first, but as you can see from the expression on his face he had a blast!

First Date

Alli and Maddox went on their first date in the Jeep. Maddox was such a gentleman and drove... very cautiously I might add!

Adding a little SPICE to life!

Last week I was on a business call and Maddox came in trying to scrape something out of his mouth. When I got close to him I smelled a really strong spice smell. He was fine and went on about his business. When I got off the phone I went to go check on him. As I walked into the den I was taken over by the same spice smell. About that time I look over and this is what I see.....

Yes... that is an empty tupperware containter that used to house the pile of spice for shimp boiling. And.. yes... it is dumped on my carpet!!!!!

Wild Hair at the Park

Since the weather has finally decided to stay beautiful, most of our afternoons are spent at the park. When Maddox goes down the slide he gets so much static in his hair it stand straight up. Maddox... I am so sorry that you got your mommy's hair!!!!

Friends, Family, & Faith

FRIENDS:
While in Jackson we were able to get together with the Lampkins. Dawn and Will hosted us at their house and treated us to a great meal. Sara Kennedy, Maddox, and Cooper had a great time playing. At one time during the evening, Dawn went to go check on them and Sara Kennedy had Maddox and Cooper having a tea party. Neither one of them complained at all! We are excited to be able to see them more often in 2 short months!

Of course fun times were had by all during all the many times together with all the kiddos. Olivia tells me that she is going to stay with me all the time when we move back!! Yea! I need a girl around!

FAITH:
Construction has begun on Stephen's new office space! HALLELUJAH!!! They have already placed the wall studs & electrical boxes. We were able to do a "stud walk-through". This is where we meet with the architects, engineers, contractors, equipment people, interior decorator, etc and go through each room to approve where outlets have been placed, where sheet rock will go, where x-ray equipment will be placed... all the VERY serious stuff. It was awesome to see the space laid out in person and not just on paper- almost surreal. When we got there I was overwhelmed at how many people it takes to complete a build-out! I have been praying so diligently for these people, this office space, and the path that God has laid before us. There have been a few glitches along the way, but He has promised us that He will not hand us a burden to heavy for our load. With only 3 months until opening, I am trusting Him and keeping the FAITH!

Happy 32nd Birthday Stephen!!!!

Stephen turned 32 on March 18th! Since he was 8 (according to him) his family has eaten crawfish on his birthday every year... so why break tradition?!?

Jackson Visit (or should I say craziness)!!

We headed to Jackson on the 14th and boy was it a CRAZY, BUSY week! We knew we had a couple of meetings for the practice and planned to look at some houses, but we didn't know it was going to be quit so hectic!

With approximately 88 days left in Augusta, we were excited to get back and see our friends here!

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

On Saturday, we went to the Annual MCG Housestaff Auxiliary Easter Egg Hunt. (The Housestaff Auxiliary is a social/service organizing for students, residents, and fellows wives that I have been a part of for four years.) The Easter Egg Hunt is at the MCG President's house every year. Dr. and Mrs. Rahn's home and grounds are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! This event is always a fun time for all!

Night Swimming

Friday night Stephen and I went to the Y to workout. When we finished we took Maddox to swim in the indoor pool. Last summer it took him a good while to get really comfortable in the water. Stephen wanted to go ahead and start introducing him to it again so he'll be good and ready for the beach in May. Thankfully, he picked it right back up and had no fear!

New Toys!!!!

Last week was a fabulous week at the Greer house! Maddox and I both got new toys....

Our church has a children's consignment sale twice a year. A group of friends and I have volunteered for the last 3 years and gotten some wonderful things for our kiddos. Someone had consigned this jeep, but it needed a new battery. Even with purchasing a new battery we spent half of what it would have cost us to buy it new. Maddox LOVES it!!!!!!!!

As far as my camera goes.... I haven't been very happy with my little digital. It's been taking very pix elated (sp?) pictures and I kept telling Stephen that these are all we have of Maddox. I've had my eye on this particular camera for a while now. Every time I go into a store that has them I go over and dream of having one. Maddox and I ran into Office Depot the other day and went over to dream and they were on SALE!!!!! $140 of the original price!!!!! I called Stephen and told him and he said go ahead and get it.... YEAH!!!!!! I have had the best time this weekend taking pictures of everything I can find. There is so much to do with this camera it's going to take me forever to figure it out. Sorry if things are too dark, too light, etc. I'm VERY interested in photography and hope to take a course one day. Expect to see LOTS of pictures from now on!
